Panoramic views to Great Dodd and Helvellyn_These delightful stone built farm holiday cottages look out upon some of the finest scenery in the Lake District, including Great Dodd, and beyond that, Helvellyn itself. There is the peaceful atmosphere of St Johns-in-the-Vale nearby with the challenging walking country of High Rigg, and rising up behind the properties, there are the lower slopes of Blencathra which can be reached from the doorstep. Set on a working sheep farm, just off the Penrith to Keswick Road (A66) and is a central touring base for the Lake District. The properties are tastefully furnished and decorated and are maintained to a very good standard. The children can enjoying playing on the train, Puffing Billy and a play area. The traditional village of Threlkeld is 1 mile and has two excellent pubs serving food. The bustling market town of Keswick is 6 miles and has a selection of shops, tourist attractions, pubs and restaurants. Lakeside walks at Thirlmere and boating trips on Derwent water are a must. Travelling along a pretty country lane through the Vale will bring you to the prehistoric site of Castlerigg Stone Circle which stands in a magnificent setting, then head towards Grassmere, 10 miles, Ambleside, 14 miles, Windermere, 18 miles.
