A 5-minute stroll will take you into the centre of the historic port of Fowey with its picturesque narrow streets, restaurants, inns and interesting shops. Many water-based activities are available, from boat hire, for exploring the river and estuary, to canoe expeditions and sea or river fishing. Local ferries across the harbour to Bodinnick and Polruan make it easy to enjoy the area and also form part of the famous Hall Walk that takes in some fabulous scenery. The ferry across the bay to Mevagissey is a great day out and ideal for a trip to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The Eden Project is only 7 miles away, as are Restormel Castle amd the antique shops of Lostwithiel. Family beaches can be found nearby at Readymoney Cove within walking distance, Polkerris and Pentewen. For the surfing beaches, head to the north coast, only 40 minutes drive away.
