The village is just a 5 minute drive from the centre of York, its pretty cobbled streets and alleys offer a variety of shops, inns and restaurants, York Minster, the Viking Centre and The Railway and Castle Museums. Ghost tours take place every night around the old alleys and snickleways. The village has two pubs, banks, a post office and newsagent, a children's play park, a delicatessen, and a bus service to York every 10 - 15 minutes. The Yorkshire Moors, Dales, coastal resorts and Bronte country are within easy reach. Shops and pubs 25 yards.
