Originally coastguards’ cottages built in 1860, the adjoining pair of holiday cottages are part of a terrace in this unique harbour area, which runs along the River Rother, with a busy yachting centre and fishing fleet. A Martello Tower was built at Rye Harbour to defend against invasion during the Napoleonic Wars. Visit the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a SSSI, where wildlife can be observed from several bird hides.
