Oak Lodge is situated in a tranquil woodland setting, close to the River Ure in beautiful Wensleydale. Masham lies 2 miles away, and boasts a Wednesday market, and some excellent restaurants and pubs; connoisseurs of real ale will enjoy visiting the local well known breweries. The famous Masham Steam Fair takes place in mid July and the Sheep Fair is at the end of September. Ripon, 8 miles is dominated by its massive cathedral, and the ancient custom of the Hornblower sounding his horn at 9pm still continues to this day. Visit the Lightwater Valley Country Park, 4 miles, Harrogate, 20 miles and York, 35 miles.
