This wonderful character detached property offers very spacious and well presented holiday accommodation, ideal for families, and stands in large lawned gardens. The cottage boasts some superb character features such as inglenook with open fire, range-style cooker, part flagstone floors and plentiful beams, as well as a sunny conservatory. The area is steeped in history – Lord Tennyson resided close by in a beautiful country retreat, now the Farringford Hotel with golf course and restaurant. The Cottage is located in a very desirable area, along a country lane within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This lovely part of the western side of the island is renowned for its spectacular walks. Most of the surrounding area is National Trust land, with popular scenic walks such as West High Down, Headon Warren and The Tennyson Trail/Monument. <br />There is also stunning heritage coastal scenery including the amazing rock formations of The Needles, where there is also a visitors park with chair lift, boat rides, coloured sands, lighthouse, amusements and glass making. Sandy beaches within 5 minutes’ drive at Freshwater, Compton, Colwell or Totland, also offering shops, library, tea rooms, indoor swimming-pool and pubs. The quaint historic town of Yarmouth is about 10 minutes’ drive, with its promenade and fine restaurants. Alum Bay with its famous coloured sands or Freshwater Bay are only 2 minutes’ drive, and within easy reach are Colwell, Compton and Totland bays. There are numerous other attractions all within easy reach, including Ventnor Botanical Gardens, the Pearl Centre, Calbourne Water Mill which still produces flour for the island, various NT homes/gardens, vineyards, museums, wildlife centres, Carisbrooke Castle, Sandown Zoo (where <em>Tiger Island</em> is filmed), Osborne House - Queen Victoria’s former holiday abode - and Cowes/Yarmouth harbours.
