Situated in the quiet hamlet of Harracott, this beautiful thatched holiday cottage enjoys views over pony paddocks and rolling Devonshire countryside, and is set within enclosed gardens of <frac>1/3</frac> acre. Built around 1750, it stands detached and retains many original features including flagstone floors and beamed ceilings. Well-equipped and furnished to very high standards, it makes an ideal base from which to explore this delightful part of England, and a stay here will prove to be an unforgettable holiday experience.<br />The local market town of Barnstaple lies just 3 miles away, with its array of shops, restaurants, cinema and an indoor leisure complex. Within easy driving distance are the magnificent golden coastal beaches of Croyde, Saunton, Putsborough Sands and Woolacombe. Popular with surfers, Croyde also boasts a rock and gem museum, where visitors can see semi-precious stones being cut, polished and made into jewellery. A coastal footpath leads to Baggy Point, where National Trust land enables walkers to see across to Lundy (15 miles) on a clear day, whilst Putsborough Sands and Woolacombe offer sandy beaches suitable for bathing as well as surfing. For children, Barricane Bay will prove a popular haunt, with tropical shells being washed ashore here from the Caribbean by the Atlantic currents.<br />With its ponies, red deer and rare birds, Exmoor National Park (12 miles) makes an attractive venue for nature lovers and walkers, and cyclists can enjoy the 23 miles or so of former railway line that comprises part of the Tarka Trail. Other places of interest include the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal Works at Great Torrington. Fishing, golf and riding all available locally.
