This stone-built holiday cottage is set in the quiet hamlet of Stirton, just a 3-minute drive from the bustling historic market town of Skipton. Adjacent to the owners’ home and beautifully decorated and furnished throughout to the owners’ exacting standards, this property offers all the home comforts even down to the provision of fluffy dressing gowns. Guests also have use of an 8-person hot tub, which has been sunk into a decked area but still has the advantage of overlooking open fields. <br />The property is ideally placed for walking - with paths available direct from the door. For golfing enthusiasts, a golf couse is just 1½ miles away and there is also a driving range within walking distance. Riding is available at Draughton, and there is an indoor swimming-pool in Skipton. Skipton itself is a bustling historic market town (known as the gateway to the Dales), with popular markets on the cobbled high street on Saturdays as well as three other weekdays. A fine selection of individual shops offer good browsing, and there are plenty of tearooms and pubs to provide welcome refreshment. A visit to Skipton would not be complete without seeing its splendid castle with twin towers. Positioned at the top of the main street, it is over 900 years old, and one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England. <br />Leisurely barge trips can be taken from the wharf in the centre of Skipton - it makes a good way to while away the afternoon and savour the peaceful surrounding countryside. Alternatively, the magnificent Yorkshire Dales (which are literally on the doorstep) can be explored by car. The fine city of York is just a 1½-hour drive away, and the Lake District 1 hour.
