Lane Side at SkiptonLane Side
Skipton

Converted to a very high standard by the current owner, this spacious barn dates back over a hundred years and retains some original features. With a very sociable, open-plan living area at first floor level to take advantage of the views, and a large private suite tucked in the eaves, this makes Lane Side ideal for family get togethers, or a group of walkers wanting to explore this lovely unspoilt area. Situated adjacent to a working livery yard overlooking beautiful rolling countryside, and with the Leeds and Liverpool canal towpath close by (where visitors can admire the colourful painted barges, feed the ducks and watch the wildlife whilst walking or cycling), this makes an ideal holiday base for breaks at any time of the year. There is an abundance of walks in the area, with the Pendle Way being a popular 45-mile circular route starting at the Pendle Heritage Centre in Barrowford and visiting many of the local villages and historic sites on route. The view from the top of Pendle Hill is well worth the climb! Skipton, the gateway to the Dales, lies around 20 minutes away by car, with popular markets being held several days each week on the cobbled main street overlooked by the Norman Castle, whilst Trough of Bowland is both beautiful and peaceful, with pretty villages and wild moorland. For shoppers the area has many mill shops with bargains to be had, including Boundary Mill at Colne, well known for famous brand clothing and homewares. The village of Embsay near Skipton has a large craft shop with café, and steam trains run regularly from the village station. The Settle-Carlisle railway starts at Hellifield (15 minutes away); Settle is famous for its shambles and a good stop-over for the Lakes. The Trafford Centre is around an hour’s drive, or take a day trip to visit the popular Fylde coast resorts of Southport, Lytham St Annes, Blackpool and Morecambe. Visitors to the area are always surprised at the variety of places to visit and always come back for more. There are plenty of places to eat out locally, with Italian, Cantonese and traditional English fare all available in the area. Golf can be found at Barnoldswick (1 mile).
