This well presented, detached property stands under the lee of Appleby Castle on the edge of the interesting and attractive market town of Appleby. The Barn has been skilfully converted from a former barn and is both interesting and intriguing; the interior blends traditional and contemporary styles to create an outstanding holiday home full of character and charm. Appleby is old Westmorland’s most historic town with a village atmosphere and a great deal of charm; it has a stunning main street and a good selection of shops and pubs. It lies in the beautiful and unspoilt Upper Eden Valley with the River Eden winding around the town and the Pennine Fells rising in a magnificent escarpment to the east. There are wonderful walks and cycle routes plus fishing and golf nearby but Appleby’s main attraction is its amazing location which is central to all the top tourist attractions of the north. The roads wind through sensational scenery with good access to both the national parks of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as the Scottish Borders with Edinburgh and Glasgow a little further and Hadrian’s Wall.
