It lies in the beautiful and unspoilt Upper Eden Valley with the River Eden winding around the town and the Pennine Fells rising in a magnificent escarpment to the east. There are wonderful walks and cycle routes plus fishing and golf nearby but Appleby&rsquo;s main attraction is its amazing location which is central to all the top tourist attractions of the north. The roads wind through sensational scenery with good access to both the national parks of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as the Scottish Borders with Edinburgh and Glasgow a little further and Hadrian&rsquo;s Wall.
