Derwent Water, with its wooded shores and boat hire, is 10 minutes’ drive, as is Keswick, popular with climbers and walkers, and offering sports facilities, swimming and golf. Bassenthwaite Lake and Ullswater, with their spectacular scenery and Penrith are all within 20 minutes’ drive. Golf ½ mile. Threlkeld Sheepdog Trials held in August.
